• Each item is positioned with an absolute pos shorthand on desktop; below 900px positions are dropped for a 2-column grid.
• An item with no images renders a flat typographic brand tile (uses tone + fg) — that’s how brands without photos still appear.
• Emotional-proof block: images are unlabelled by design. The heading carries the message, not the tiles.
