Reddit Ad

The reddit ad
An ugly ad built to look like a screenshot of a Reddit post — the subreddit line, who posted it and when, a bold title, the body, and the upvote / comments / share row. On purpose it uses none of the brand’s design; it has to read as a post someone screenshotted. Reddit rewards honest, first-person stories — write it that way.
Comes in light and dark. Set it with theme.
Reaction repost
The same post dropped onto a neutral background as a screenshot card, with a casual reaction line above it — the way people share a screenshot with a comment like “ok das trifft mich hart 💀”. Wrap the ad (with bare) in <ReactionPost>.
Parts
- Meta line — the r/subreddit, u/author and “vor X Std.”.
- Title — Reddit’s big first line. Make it a real, searchable question or take.
- Body — the story.
<br>for breaks,<b>for a name. - Actions — the orange upvote arrow + score, comments, share.
Props
| Prop | Type | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
theme | 'light' | 'dark' | 'light' | White, or Reddit’s dark mode. |
format | 'portrait' | 'story' | 'portrait' | portrait = 1080×1350. story = 1080×1920. |
sub | string | 'selbststaendig' | Subreddit, without the r/. |
author / ago | string | — | Who posted (without u/) and how long ago. |
title | string | '' | The post title — Reddit’s prominent line. |
bodyHtml | string | '' | The post body. <br>, <b> allowed. |
score / comments | string | — | Upvote score and comment count. Reddit-style — “2.1k”, “347”. |
Usage
Write it like an honest post to a niche subreddit — a lesson learned, a “why did I wait so long”. Mention the product as part of the story, never as a pitch. Keep the score believable for the sub.
<RedditAd
theme="light"
format="portrait"
sub="selbststaendig" author="anon_gruenderin" ago="5 Std."
title="Endlich eine Website die nicht peinlich ist – ohne Agentur"
bodyHtml="dachte immer ich brauch ne agentur … hab dann in 12 wochen mit <b>Sparklin</b> selber eine gebaut."
score="2.1k" comments="347"
/> Rules
Post to a plausible, specific subreddit.
Tell a first-person story, not a review.
Brand it. No logos, no tokens — it’s a screenshot.
Sound like marketing. Reddit smells that instantly.
